We decided after our trip to Gulf Shores that New Orleans was on our way home enough to make a swing through! I had never been there before and wanted to see what I was missing...were we crazy for taking our kiddos???? The kids actually did a GREAT job and we packed so much into the 24 hours we were there. We got there, headed to the Aquarium, ate dinner at Hard Rock, went on a horse carriage ride through the French Quarter and headed back to our hotel room. We had a balcony right close to Bourbon Street! It was pretty loud all night, but the kids slept great and we enjoyed people watching for a while. I must say it was a great place to visit but very smelly! I was surprised at how many buildings were still not up and running after Katrina. All in all it is something I believe everyone needs to experience.
