Relay for Life 2011....
Last year as soon as Laura and I knew we were headed to Purefoy, we decided we would head up the Purefoy Relay for Life team! Laura had done the one at Shawnee Trail and I had helped a little. It was a great decision, because our school was really affected by cancer this year. We had two Purefoy parents pass away from this disease this year and the little girl with braids in her hair was in my class...her dad a survivor! Our team walked for our teammate, Dana's son, Rett who is also a cancer survivor..he was a 5th grader this year. You will also see the Dilliman Family, I had Colton my 1st year of teaching, his mom took over my position when I left for Oklahoma and they endured this disease this year...his Dad, a survivor! Most importantly I do it to remember and honor those in my family who have lost the battle or continue to fight the battle that they can conquer! It is Relay for Life that helps to overcome this disease, with fighting legislative laws, giving money to research and recognizing those who have been in the trenches. The bags are luminarias that were purchased to honor our family members or close family friends. Words cannot express how touched I am at the response of gifts from my family and friends. You did so much with your contribution. I just wish you could have been there to experience the event. Team Purefoy raised $9,025.15, AMAZING!!!!
